BlackBerry Developer Conference announced
Research in Motion will hold its own conference for smartphone developers later this year, as interest in mobile development continues to grow.
Around October 20th there will be a 2.5 day developer event in Santa Clara, CA. Click here for the official site.

Sounds like it'd be lots of fun and great information I'm sure, but I highly doubt I'm going to make it seeing as how I'm located in Canada.
I signed up for the updates on the conference and one of the questions was something like "what would you like to see at the conference". My reply was...
"I'd like to see the conference moved to Canada! So much for being a Canadian-based company! Way to stick to your roots."
(no offense intended to anybody, but sometimes I get tired of Canada taking a back-seat to the U.S. *all* the time, especially for one of our own companies. )
You bring up a good point. A conference, even on a smaller scale, would do very well in Toronto
